The product decides the handling, not the other way round
A 5-inch flexible OLED module and an 86-inch LCD glass panel are both bonded, but they cannot share a transfer scheme. Large-size work needs rigid support through the whole path, so the roll-to-roll handling and vacuum chamber geometry are built around the panel format first. Our larger laminating models are specified for big-format glass, while the roller bonding equipment for touch glass, LCD and LCM covers a 5–15 inch format band. When a buyer sends us a sample list instead of a drawing of the line, the equipment layout usually comes out of that sample list.
Alignment method follows the tolerance the process actually needs
CCD-based alignment and a mechanical stop are not interchangeable choices. On the curved-surface and 3D lamination machines we specify CCD alignment with an arc mechanism, because the datum moves as the surface changes; on a soft-to-hard film process the alignment recipe itself becomes a variable, which is why the TGV alignment packaging solution carries selectable recipes to reduce alignment bubbles. Ask for the fitting tolerance your downstream test rejects, and the alignment architecture usually follows from that number rather than from a preference.
Cycle time and vacuum level are set together
Bonding quality is mostly a question of pressure, temperature and the residual gas in the interface, so the pumping path has to be sized against the takt time, not bought off the shelf. The membrane electrode vacuum hot pressing bonding machine is listed with a working vacuum of ≤60 Pa and a fitting error of ≤0.2 mm; the hot press model in the same series lists a production cycle of ≥1.5 pcs/min. Those figures are not marketing numbers — they are the result of choosing pump capacity, platen size and press force as one set of variables. A line customized to a shorter cycle generally needs more pumping volume and a shorter transfer stroke, which in turn changes the cell layout.
Environment control becomes part of the machine
Some processes are contaminated by the atmosphere around them. The 3D curved glass hot bending forming machine runs its chambers under nitrogen with oxygen monitoring, and spin coating and slit coating for perovskite and related thin films are built around glove-box enclosures. Where your process window is defined by oxygen or particulate level, the enclosure and the monitoring instruments are customized into the equipment instead of being added on site later.
Interface, inspection and after-sales requirements shape the control layer
Customers integrating a bonding cell into an existing factory typically require data logging, an upstream/downstream handshake, and a maintenance window their team can service. Our engineering scope covers product development, hardware testing and manufacturing automation, so those requirements are handled during design review: recipe storage, alarm records, and access for preventive maintenance are laid out before the mechanical design is frozen. A line delivered into a plant with its own standards costs more later if this step is skipped.
What to prepare before requesting a customized line
Send the following and the design conversation moves much faster:
- Substrate and finished-module dimensions, thickness and whether the surface is flat, curved or 3D
- Material stack, including film type and whether bonding is vacuum, hot press or roller
- Target cycle time per piece and the tolerance your inspection rejects
- Factory constraints: floor space, power supply, gas supply and available maintenance crew
Customization does not change what a bonding machine is; it changes which constraints drive the design. Tell us the product and the takt, and we will come back with an alignment, vacuum and handling configuration matched to both — you can review the available equipment categories at PowerDe products or contact us directly for a line proposal.
